Cairns has always been big on festivals and with tourists always on the lookout for fresh and fun things to do in Cairns, it’s not a mystery why. One yearly festival should be a fantastic weekend for all… Kuranda Festival.

Historically running over two days in October every year, Kuranda Festival is a weekend jam packed with entertainment and enjoyable activities for the entire family. Kicking off on a Saturday, the festival is fantastic for its arts and crafts, live musical performances, the famous “Bash of the Barron River Raft Race”, the Annual German Sausage eating competition, the Great Kuranda Undie Fun Run, jumping castles, magic shows, pony rides, face painting, street performers and much more!

Both days are suitable for those looking for things to do in Cairns for kids. Packing all of this into two days is going to be quite a task, yet the gang up in Kuranda really know how to throw a party, so be sure not to miss it. Kuranda Village is a beautiful part of the world and heading up there for a visit is a memorable day in itself, so the Kuranda Festival really puts that sleepy rainforest village into good times overdrive!
