After some old fashioned Australian markets? Maybe looking for slow paced things to do in Cairns or the Atherton Tablelands? If so, Yungaburra Markets is a good day out for all!
Located in the beautiful Atherton Tablelands about an hour South West of Cairns, Yungaburra Markets are what many would consider a classical country town market experience.
As the largest and oldest market in the region, the markets provide a large range of stalls (over 250), selling a variety of goodies, including fresh local produce, home made furniture, arts, crafts, clothing, local wines and many other treats to delight even the fussiest of market goers.
Need to keep the kids entertained? No worries! There’s plenty of activities for children, including face painting, stalls for the kids, live music and plenty of delicious treats to keep the kids happy.
For the parents, discover many unique and wonderful stalls, as they showcase beautiful pottery, jewellery, honeys, locally made clothing, health products, jams made from rainforest fruits, phew! It goes on and on!
After some tasty treats? We recommend the Swiss Krusty Shed, selling a delicious range of Swiss style cakes, breads, crumbles and other naughty goodies. Hey… you deserve it!
In the markets you’ll even find things you never expected. Advanced Wind Technologies have a display, showcasing some of the latest technologies in renewable energy systems. It’s good to check it out, especially with electricity costs going through the roof.
Yungaburra Markets operate January through to November, are held on the 4th Saturday of every month and kick off at 7.30 am. We recommend you get there early as the markets can get quite busy, with many of the good stall selling out before midday.
So if you’re in the mood for a relaxing day out, head out to Yungaburra Markets. A fun day for all and when you’re done browsing all the stalls, why not head into town? The town of Yungaburra is absolutely beautiful.
