After a different dining experience in Kuranda, or on the hunt for things to do in Cairns with a quirky meal appeal? If so, German Tucker could be your best bet for a lunch with real character.
Located in Kuranda Village, German Tucker is certainly not your average run of the mill eatery and you will notice this as soon as you walk in. As soon as you enter German Tucker it’s hard to not notice the abundance of memorabilia all over the walls, traditional German music playing in the background and possibly some staff singing as they go about their business. From the get go, you know this is no ordinary place to grab a bite to eat.
German Tucker is a cosy establishment, it’s not large, yet it’s absolutely brimming with character and it’s not only the interior decorative layout that make it unique. The staff are a real hoot, very welcoming and friendly. You can tell they really love what they do, so you will get this vibe off them that makes being in German Tucker just as enjoyable as eating the food!
These guys serve the best sausages in town, including Kasekancker, Weibwurst, Bockwurst and of course your traditional German cuisine wouldn’t be complete with sauerkraut! “Tucker” does come into the menu as well, as you can indulge in both crocodile and emu sausages. Don’t fret though (as the menu states) all crocodiles and emus were asked lovingly.
Yet you’re probably asking…what would a classic German meal be without your traditional German beer to wash it down?
Choose from a good selection of Steins and German beers to quench that first. Nothing like a cold beer after a big day of walking around Kuranda and if you’re not in the mood for a beer, German Tucker provide non-alcoholic beverages as well to wash down the delicious (and quite filling) meals they serve.
Top food, great atmosphere and staff that make you feel at home from the get go? Who wouldn’t want to check out German Tucker?
Just remember the rules. NO bad accents, NO dancing on tables and certainly NO Hogans Heroes or Fawlty Towers jokes! Other than that… wunderbar!!!
